Environmental Architecture:  Vincent Callebaut

by Donna Schoenkopf

Vincent Callebaut is a Belgian architect living in France.  He specializes in environmental architecture.  He's only thirty four years old, but he's making a huge mark on the architectural world.

Everything on our planet depends on human beings devising ways to clean up our act.  Callebaut does this with grace and beauty.  He has designed a planned community of 100,000 people in Geneva.  It relies on two two types of buildings -- one is an egg-shaped structure and the other remakes the hills and alluvial plains of the geography of the area.

Here are gorgeous renderings of what his future Geneva would look like.

I want to live there, too.
